Easy to hook-up, then just push the button and it switches computers. I like the room it saves on my desk. Only negative is you have to wait a few seconds for the mouse to be recognized. Handy little gadget.
Display resolution was a problem initially. I then decided to RTFM. Logitech MK300 wireless kbd/mse and Altec Lansing VS2620 plain jane speakers. It works from cold start with one system. I have mine hooked up to IBM T400 laptop with port replicator and my IBM ThinkCentre desktop. HPL1710 monitor. Belkin Flip USB with Audio - Folks, I too experienced some of the problems. I took off all cables and restarted the installation using Belkin instructions and all worked well.
Switch between both and all is good. Read the manual from Belkin. Great value for the money and removed a rats nest of cables, keyboards, speakers, mouses (or mice if you wish). If you did what I did and ripped open the package and just started plugging in things and expected it to work you would be disappointed, as I was. Once I reset resolution on each system after installation of the Belkin Flip it seems to work fine. Then while working on one do power on of other system and wait a few minutes.
Installation is sequence sensitive. I was getting strange behavior when switching. Switch to other system to continue boot up and all worked fine. Hope this helps.
It could be a little cheaper but the convinience it gives me is worth it. This is a great product. I have been using this for more than a year with no problem. I have quite a few Belkin products and they seem to work very well. I use this switch to connect one 24" LCD monitor to to two PCs, one with Windows ME and one with Vista.I highly recomend this to anyone who wants to share one monitor with two PCs -simply and effectively without any fuss.
All this convenience and at a much lower price than I'd seen anywhere else online or in the big box office stores. I've got XP Pro running on both computers and everything really does work great.
I got this switch so I could improve my setup and make my life a bit easier. And guess what.
My laptop's screen died but the rest of it is fine so I started sharing a monitor with my desktop. If you follow the directions that are included, you will have no difficulty setting everything up.
I did. With this switch, I now share monitor, mouse, keyboard and speakers between two computers.
There is only a couple seconds delay when I click the switch to switch between computers and I think that's pretty awesome. This item is worth every penny.
The directions are basically worthless; simple diagrams would do it but they make it much more complicated than it should be. I had to go buy a DVI to VGA converter. Beware that it will only work with USB keyboard and mouse -- I didn't catch that when I bought it. Then, it doesn't work with a DVI monitor interface. I went to set it up and realized the mouse and keyboard on one computer are not USB. I got tired of messing with it and threw it in a drawer, so it was a total waste for me.
